Spanish Rococo Era/Romantic Painter and Printmaker, 1746-1828 Goya is considered the 18th Century's foremost painter and etcher of Spanish culture, known for his realistic scenes of battles, bullfights and human corruption. Goya lived during a time of upheaval in Spain that included war with France, the Inquisition, the rule of Napoleon's brother, Joseph, as the King of Spain and, finally, the reign of the Spanish King Ferdinand VII. Experts proclaim these events -- and Goya's deafness as a result of an illness in 1793 -- as central to understanding Goya's work, which frequently depicts human misery in a satiric and sometimes nightmarish fashion. From the 1770s he was a royal court painter for Charles III and Charles IV, and when Bonaparte took the throne in 1809, Goya swore fealty to the new king. When the crown was restored to Spain's Ferdinand VII (1814), Goya, in spite of his earlier allegiance to the French king, was reinstated as royal painter. After 1824 he lived in self-imposed exile in Bordeaux until his death, reportedly because of political differences with Ferdinand. Hendrick Danckerts
(c.1625 - 1680) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter and engraver. Danckerts was born in The Hague, where he learned his trade and remained until 1653.He visited England for the first time in 1650.In 1653 he went to Italy, where he stayed for five years. He then moved to England where he entered the service of Charles II and the Duke of York. He painted Italianate landscapes, especially views of harbors and royal residences. He also produced portraits and devotional pictures and made engravings after the Italian old masters in the Royal Collection. He left England in 1679due to the public hostility towards Roman Catholics after the Popish Plot controversy. He died soon after in Amsterdam.
Alexei Korzukhin
(1835-1894) was Russian painter. A Korzukhin 000.JPG Korzukhin was born in Yekaterinburg on March 23, 1835. In 1858 he began his studies in the St. Petersburg in the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1860, Korzukhin won his first award for the painting his The Drunken Father. In 1864, he help found Petersburg Artel of Artists - the "Revolt of Fourteen". Korzukhin has received a rank of the artist of the First Degree for his painting Commemoration on a Rural Cemetery (1865). For The Return of the Father from Fair, he received a rank of the academician. In 1870, he became a founding member of the art group 'The Wanderers. In 1891 he painted The Lord's Supper for a cathedral in Riga. Korzukhin is perhaps most famous for his many portraits, each of which is characterized to have a subtle psychological depth. For this reason they are generally accepted as masterpieces of Russian portrait painting. Alexei Korzukhin died in St. Petersburg on October 30, 1894.

American figure and portrait painter. b.1855 d.1941 was an American figure and portrait painter. He was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee He was a pupil of G??rome in Paris. He studied in Paris under Jean Leon Gerome, among others. His work was printed in Harpers and Century Magazines as early as 1881, including an illustrated article, An Artist Among the Indians in 1885. He taught at Cooper Union and at The Art Students League and he exhibited and was a member of the National Academy of Design. In 1883, public attention was first attracted to his work by his pictures of Native American life in the West, such as "The Silence Broken," "The Sculptor and the King," "The Indian and the Lily," and "The Moose Chase" (National Gallery, Washington).
